GRAFHAM WATER GOES BIG FISH MAD !
GRAFHAM WATER GOES BIG FISH MAD !

Grafhams Annual Big Fish Feast Begins !

Grafham Water is now currently producing some monster trout. The reservoirs 2nd largest trout has been landed this weekend, a massive 16lb brownie !! The fish fell to a spondooly floating fry, and was caught by Bob Wallinger, from the rocks in front of the lodge. Bob was using a floating line when the fish emerged like a submarine to swallow his fry pattern. The fish, as expected, went like a torpedo, however Bob managed to hold tight to his catch.

Richard Toll, also joined in in the spoils. Richard took a 10lb 10z brown trout, also from the rocks in front of the lodge. Not to be outdone was Don Pitts. Don took another brown trout, also from the same spot, on a fry pattern. Dons fish was a superb 9lb 13oz !! Peter Waterhouse also took a fabulous 7lb brownie, yes you’ve guessed it, from the rocks.

When this sort of fishing is available you can be restassured one local angler will turn out, Dave Barker. A Fry fishing specialist, Dave Barker took a superb bag of six fish weighing an amazing 27lb 11oz, also off the rocks. All this action has happened within the last 4 days.

Grafham is now becoming renowned for this early Autumn sport, as the fry reach a nice meal size for the trout.

Grafham regular Jim Watts told UK Flyfisher contributor Craig Barr, he saw two fish that were well above double figures when motoring into Valley Creek, both rolling on the surface gauging on the fry.

With these sort of fish on the move, it is well worth a visit. One tip is do make sure you fish a strong nylon or that dream fish just may get away !

Rutland Waters fry feast has begun, with fish now bashing the fry in the harbour. The usual big fish from the harbour has not yet been caught. Will it be you ?

If you catch a big fish and want your name and picture shown to tens of thousands of regular visitors to UK Flyfisher then simply send the details to news@ukflyfisher.co.uk
