Fly in the eye!
Fly in the eye!

Be very aware of the danger!

This is NOT for the squeamish! If you are of a sensitive disposition do not view these pictures.

The very real dangers of fly fishing without wearing glasses was brought home to Tyne and Wear angler Gary Hays in this afternoon’s second leg of the Annual Fry Bash at Rutland Water. Gary received a very unwanted addition to his fly box…a Yellow Booby straight in the eye during the afternoon session. Being hooked in such a difficult position,

Gary was advised to return home to Tyne and Wear before going to hospital to have the fly removed. The strong moral to this story is always wear eye protection whilst fishing, especially if you happen to be in the bow of a boat and your boat partner is casting inside the boat.
