Nottingham's Colwick Country Park weekly return
Nottingham's Colwick Country Park weekly return

Colwick Country Park trout fishery is fishing it's head off, Malcolm Colebourne, the head ranger told ukflyfisher today.

Total fish caught for the week on this 65 acre fishery , just a few minutes from the centre of Nottingham stood at 512, giving a rod average of 3.5 fish per rod.

The mornings are fishing better than the rest of the day, Malcolm told ukflyfishers, John Pass, with catches tailing off during the warmer middle of the day, before picking up again into the evening.

Best flies at the moment are green buzzers on a floating line. The best fish this week taken by a season ticket holder was 5.2lbs in weight.

Hotspots are the Marina bank, the peninsula and the bank directly opposite the Marina.

Ticket prices cover a wide range , from the Junior catch and release at just £5:50p, Senior catch and release £11:50p, 6 fish limit £18:50p, with rowing boats priced at £11:50p, you can bring your own electric boat engine of course. Or if you just have a couple of hours to spare, why not take the 2 fish- 4 hour permit at just £11:50p

For further information contact the fishing lodge on 01159 870785.

keep up to date with ukflyfisher, news as it happens.
