The mink raft scheme introduced on the Cromford Flyfishers Club water on the Derbyshire Derwent is proving to be a real boost in the ever present threat of mink usng our waterways as they hunt for prey.Following the intial placing of the rafts just under a month ago, a second mink was caught and despatched today, Saturday 17th february, by assistant bailiff Mike Marriott.
The intention is to increase the amount of rafts on the club water very soon, to coincide with the increase in activity expected throughout march and april. At this time of year, males are seeking out mates, in what is generally the breeding season for this preditor.
