Working alongside Helen Perkins of the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, on the Cromford Flyfishers Club water on the Derbyshire Derwent, Head Bailiff John Pass and assistant Bailiff Mike Marriott introduced floating mink rafts to monitor the mink poulation.
Within 1 day of them being set in place, mink tracks were seen and traps were set.Five days later, the first mink was trapped and despatched, hopefully giving more protection to the water voles that inhabit the River Derwent and the adjacent Cromford Canal, one of the countries strongholds of the water vole.
